Goals and Objectives
Membership
-
Establish a goal of 150+ members.
- Increase membership and participation of large value investment
property owners in King William. Increase membership and participation of
farmers operating in King William County.
- Identify all outside companies doing business in King William
County and invite them to join our association.
- Increase participation with Verizon, Rappahannock Electric
Company, and Dominion Virginia Power in our association.
- Receive input and requests from our membership for additional
business related concerns and seek resolution of all of our members' problems
and concerns.
Membership
Services
- Establish a program to support and promote companies doing
business in King William and assist businesses in understanding and meeting the
requirements of local ordinances.
- Continue to promote through contacts, communication, and
participation of our association with the Virginia Economic Development
Partnership, the Governor's Secretary of Commerce, and the Virginia Chamber of
Commerce, Dominion Virginia Power's Economic Development Office, Rappahannock
Electric Company, and Verizon.
- Create Business and services directory to be distributed to our members and the
public, listing, and promoting, our business members. Include only the
information on the business, services, and contact person, not home telephone
numbers, etc.
- Promote Contacts and interaction among our members through various
social activities and member events.
Education
- Continue with the aggressive campaign of past years to support our
school systems.
- Encourage and sponsor co-operation between the business community
and the school systems.
- Seek recognition and support of our schools through the local,
state, and private groups. (i.e. Dominion Virginia Power Grant Program,
etc.)
- Work to assist the schools with their marketing programs.
- Assist more business in utilizing the college/school facilities
for night programs and activities.
State
and Federal Government Issues
- Establish communications and develop a positive working
relationship with our elected representatives on the state and national levels.
- Begin lobbying for or against proposals on the state and
national level that affects our members by writing letters on behalf of the
association to our elected officials. Issues such as taxes, environmental
regulations, private property rights, franchise laws, highway, and finding all that
affect our members and our desires, should be made known.
Regional
Issues
- Develop a working relationship with the Middle Peninsula Planning
District, West Point Chamber of Commerce, Tappahannock Chamber of Commerce, and
the Hanover Business Association.
- Solicit funding for the improvements to Rt. 30 and other roads to
King William.
Local
Government Issues
- In compliance with our charter and by-laws, monitor local
government actions, inform our membership, and seek changes for the benefit of
the business community and King William County.
