WEST POINT HIGH SCHOOL FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA PARTNER WITH KING WILLIAM BUSINESS ASSOCIATON ON WEB SITE PROJECT
Cynthia Rinaldi, Business Teacher and FBLA Adviser at West Point High School, planned this school year’s challenging program of work with her six, newly-elected FBLA officers of the West Point High School FBLA Chapter # 476. The group decided to offer the Chapter’s services to the KWBA on a joint project for the Fall. KWBA President, Ralph Jones was all to eager to take them up on the offer to have students work with the Association on a viable project. After meeting with the KWBA Board, Mr. Jones asked Mrs. Rinaldi if the chapter could help them develop the Association’s website. Although the Association has a current web site, the Board felt an update or revision was necessary to make the Association’s web site more useful to the Association’s members and the community.
On October 1, 2002, at the regularly scheduled KWBA Board meeting, Mrs. Rinaldi and three students of her FBLA Website Committee presented their proposal and recommendation to create a new web site for the Association. The Board unanimously approved the proposal. The Website Committee, made up of Jackson Barrow, Michael Quell, Patrick Hicks, and Robert Dill, will construct the new web site with information supplied directly by the KWBA. The committee’s goal is to have the new web site active in December of this year. The website is intended to inform members, the community, and potential entrepreneurs about the scope of the KWBA’s vital role in the education and promotion of new and existing business in the county and the benefits of membership. The web site will feature information on policies and positions, a calendar of meetings and special events, a membership business locator with corresponding web address links, meeting highlights, the current elected officers and board members, member applications, online e-mail, links to government and education in the county, the current newsletter, and more.
Mrs. Pam Steele, Business Teacher and alternate adviser at West Point High School, will join Mrs. Rinaldi in supervising the committee’s work and progress. Mr. Jones, Mr. Wesley Walker, and Mr. David Robinson of the KWBA will provide the Association’s direction.
For over 30 years, the West Point High School’s FBLA Chapter has helped high school students successfully make the school-to-career transition. Chapter activities and events focus on leadership and promotion, school and community service, business and financial education, and social functions. The award-winning Chapter has consistently been recognized as an outstanding chapter at both state and national levels.
